Sustainability
Our sustainable materials

Our product lines are geared towards addressing sustainability issues from the moment products are developed in our factory. Our BOPP films can be thinner, which results in lower material consumption, allows for a mono-material package structure and design for recycling.
The quality and technology of our films are reflected in the performance of the production lines of our converters and end users, and capable of reducing environmental impact by saving resources.
Here at Vitopel, all waste generated within our production processes is reused and can re-enter the circuit and be transformed into new products. Likewise, BOPP packaging can be recycled and reused for other purposes, contributing to the circular economy of materials.
Our sustainable highlights
Sustainability in our industrial sector is critical to repairing environmental impacts and keeping our company at a competitive advantage and with solutions that allow the dynamics of sustainable production and consumption processes.

2. Improve the energy efficiency of Vitopel’s plants, seeking to reduce electricity consumption. The replacement of equipment and systems resulted in an average reduction in energy consumption of 2,549 MWh/year, which represents a reduction of 6.3% in the average monthly consumption at one of the plants; and the average reduction in energy consumption of 2,632 MWh/year, which represents of a reduction of 3.5% in the average monthly consumption in the second plant.

3. Reduction in the consumption of virgin wood that makes up the packaging of Vitopel’s rolls, that is, reduce the acquisition of items made with virgin wood (pallets and sides) that make up the packaging of Vitopel’s rolls by replacing part of these with repurchase items after undergoing inspection and cleaning. The project is carried out in partnership with service providers specialized in the recovery of wooden pieces and involves the recovery of these items from the main customers located in the state of São Paulo. So far there has been a 39% reduction in the purchase of new items and for pallets.

4. Optimization of the process of shipping material to customers ensuring the best use of useful space of transport vehicles and reconciling deliveries according to the location of the recipients, ensuring the smallest possible number of trips that meet delivery deadlines. The cargo occupancy rate on our vehicles in 2022 was 84.8%, an expressive growth of 16% compared to 2017 when the rate was 73.1%.
